As a judge, Susan continually evaluated evidence presented to the court to make decisions. Genealogists also must evaluate evidence carefully to arrive at sound conclusions. Susan will explain why the legal model of evaluating evidence offers good comparisons for family history research. Judge Snow is a past president of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and chaired the education committee of the Domestic Relations Division. The Internet is a wonderful research tool for locating ancestors as long as you know its limitations. Your success depends on how much time was spent in gathering relevant data about your family and knowing what pre-search strategies to follow. This seminar will focus on the steps necessary to facilitate a successful search. It will also suggest ways to get around the inevitable brick walls that develop when you don't always find your ancestors where they are supposed to be.
